Had a look at it but looks non-trivial libtool/autofoo created problem. automake adds via libtool.m4 (?) and -rpath parameter to libmagic.la, which is then used to link file. The generated Makefile.in in already patched for other reasons, so perhaps patching out the rpath from there would work.
