No idea. I didn't have xosview installed before. As I said it was a
clean install with no config whatsoever.

When I opened reportbug I didn't and, while writing the report, I
realized that I was blaming it on that package without checking first.
So I installed the package, re-tested and edited the report
accordingly.

What's more, I was actually using the testing version at first and
upgraded to the unstable version when reportbug told me that there was
a new version there.

It doesn't. It does change the error message, though:

$ xosview
xosview: display :0 cannot load font 6x10
