I think I got an easier way to reproduce the issue:
Disconnect AC
Start fdpowermon (or vice versa, shouldn't matter)
[Wait a while]
Write down current state of battery
Suspend to RAM
Connect AC
[Wait a while]
Wake up
The displayed state by fdpowermon is close the written down state
before suspending including the "discharching" despite the machine is
back on AC.
Nevertheless awesome's and i3status' battery display show the proper
values.
