I suspect it is due to http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-gnome?view=revision&revision=32408 You can try two things: - Revert this commit and recompile glib2.0 to see if it fixes the crashes - Install libglib2.0-0-dbg and libffi5-dbg and get a backtrace or a core dump.
