They're part of an ext4 filesystem. IE the filesystem itself is:
# ls /u277
andyc lost+found
And the automounter has made /u277/andyc available as /home/andyc
So, /home/andyc is not at the root of the filesystem.
IE the check that the script is making is wrong when presented with autofs5
automounted directories.

I've done that.

Thanks for that info. In the presence of the autofs5 automounter, I don't think
it can be made to work.
