When searching the package lists for freeciv, multiple client packages are listed, but there is nothing in their descriptions to help decide which one you should install. The GTK client is the only one actively maintained upstream anyhow, so the descriptions should be updated to indicate that is the client you should install unless you have a good reason to mess with the others. For that matter, it may be a good idea to just drop the other clients.
