I was also hit by this when upgrading from 8 to 9, using Firebug 1.9.0. Thank you for the pointer to the upstream bug report.
As the upstream bug report says (eventually), this was fixed in Firefox 10.0b5. I verified the fix in 10.0~b5-1.
