See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Server ping error: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0) Maybe that's a hint what's going wrong. I don't know how to check whether gconf is properly running. I only know that there is a process "/usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconfd-2". Running "update-gnucash-gconf" results in "cd: 5: can't cd to /etc/gconf/schemas" (the directory does not exist) and the error message /from above (just the quoted part). Is there an URL of the upstream bug available?
