In Debian Reference, it makes a comparison between apt-get / apt-cache and aptitude. It tells about the advantage of aptitude. For example, it says '|aptitude| is most suitable for the *daily interactive package management* such as inspecting installed packages and searching available packages.'

And, another reason is that in most pages of Debian Reference, it uses aptitude instead of apt-get / apt-cache.
