Hello Martin, this is a known issue for Clementine 0.7.1 and Gnome3 [1], which is fixed in the current upstream release. As Thomas stated [2], this new version 1.0.1 will soon be available.
Until then, the workaround I'm using is additionally running e.g. Totem with an empty playlist; Clementine does listen to the keys when another program is running parallely.
