Package: dpkg Version: 1.10.28 Severity: wishlist It would be nice if something like "dpkg --md5sum $filename" would give the md5sum $filename, just as
grep $filename /var/lib/dpkg/status | cut -f 3 -d ' ' does (except when the full filename is in some description, or the "pattern" is too liberal for any other cause). Maybe it can even be extended to the md5sums files of individual packages, but currently I only see a useful application for conffiles (namely, checking whether some action is needed or not).
