Confirm this bug (FreeCAD from unstable /0.12/). Draft (2d) workbench won't work at all.
It might be connected somehow with python-pivy package. And there's a corresponding bug in Ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pivy/+bug/586172 Meantime FreeCAD from stable (0.10) has draft (2d) workbench working.
