yeah.. ugh.. should've not forgotten to post that in the first place.

Indeed, the problem now solved itself by updating dpkg from
1.16.0.3 to 1.16.1.2

yes, the new dpkg seems to do that now.

Still, having the shebang correct would be a quick fix I guess.
