Well, I was running apt-listbugs directly (without aptitude) inside a
sid chroot, but I entered that chroot through sudo and I actually had
the SUDO_* environment variables set...
I don't think that these differences should produce a dramatically
different outcome; after all, I was able to reproduce the issue you
reported, with my setup!
