On the man page there is an example... but we find it is somewhat misleading, as apparently such variables become external automatically: $ basex -L -bv=example -q'declare variable $v external; $v' example $ basex -L -bv=example -q'$v' example -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
