Hi,
I'm forwarding a bug, which submitter complains that on X shutdown the
shared memory allocated from afterstep is not freed, and after some X
session all programs that use shared memory give shmget() error.
The bug was originally reported against afterstep 2.00.02 running on
Linux 2.6.10, but the submitter could reproduce with afterstep 2.00.03.
Best Regards,
robert

Subject: Re: Bug#298728: afterstep: shared memory error
Dear Robert, I've updated afterstep to 2.00.03 from
deb http://people.debian.org/~robert/afterstep/ ./
I've rebooted the system and I've started
a new X session.
On the session shutdown ipcs -p show that the
segment allocation problem persists,
(old afterstep pid was 3139), I report "ipcs -p",
and "ps fax" outputs for completness.
Two programs that give me shmget() error
are xcdroast and gmplayer, that gives
the errors reported in the following.
I hope that this informations can be useful.
Thanks a lot
Best Regards
Davide Piombo

Hi,
On X shutdown the shared memory allocated from afterstep does not be
freed, and after some X session all programs that use shared memory give
shmget() error. ipcs -p give as results the pid of afterstep old
sessions that are not still alive in memory.
Could you please check if the problem does still exist in afterstep
2.00.03? You can download it from the Debian/unstable
or from
deb http://people.debian.org/~robert/afterstep/ ./
Please also give more information about for example what program
gives the shmget error.
