Forwarded is a bug filed against the Debian package crawl about Stone
Soup 0.3.1 not being able to read old scorefiles. Could you comment on

Upon losing, I abruptly got the message "Cannot read 4.0-style
scorefiles".  Ideally Crawl should do so; if not, it should at least
given enough details to explain how to correct the problem.
