Hi Benoît,
I want to inform you about dblatex bug reports #482855 [1] and #482856
[2], both symptoms of the same issue:
If one transforms a document containing cyrillic characters (russian,
ukranian), TeX macros of package unicode.sty get used, however the
package is only included when one explicitly sets option '-P
latex.unicode.use=1'. Otherwise the TeX compilation fails with quite
technical error messages. The option actually is documented in the user
manual, nevertheless it can easily be missed/forgotten. Thus it seems
to be a usability question:
Would it be possible to include the package automatically if its content
gets used? I can imagine several solutions (in decreasing
desirability):
1) An "intelligent" approach: include the package automatically if it is
needed.
2) Include the package if the document's lang attribute suggests that
cyrillic characters will be used (we could start with 'ru' and 'uk'
:-) )
3) Unconditionally include the package in all documents (provided that
it doesn't have any negative side effects).
(BTW, the example document is quite interesting due to its many
translations: "Debian GNU/Linux Reference Card")
