Hello Steve,
a week ago I outlined a procedure I suggest for dealing with RC bug
188448 reported by me. In brief:

a) Remove abuse-* from testing
b) Wait for an upload to the 32bit archs only
c) Downgrade 188448 to important (maybe only wishlist),
   hence abuse-* can re-enter testing

Since the change to debian/control is trivial, I assume you can do an
NMU to achieve b) (the maintainer has not replied to the plan outlined
last week, his last email for this bug is dated September 2004). But
if you want, I can provide a patch for a NMU, just that I cannot test
it.

Greetings

          Helge
