Per my previous mail, I apt-get removed and dpkg purged the clamav, clamav-freshclam, clamav-base, and all other clamav related packages that I could find. Upon reinstall, I experienced the same problem as mentioned before. I also did a "find /etc -iname "*clam*"" after the purge and found no files.

This does not seem to be the case;

[EMAIL PROTECTED]>ls /usr/bin/freshclam
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 65K Jun 21 07:07 /usr/bin/freshclam

Double-check;

[EMAIL PROTECTED]>test -x /usr/bin/freshclam
[~]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]>echo $?
0

I have no idea how I borked this all up! I don't recall ever having done any custom work to this package or it's files.

If all else fails, I can just do a package purge and then reinstall and restore my config files if needed.

The only way we could have gotten to this point is if somehow
/usr/bin/freshclam is not executable. Can you see how if it is, and
how it goes when it is executable?

Thanks,
