One way I did suggest somewhere else is the following: Take a typical
document, process it with
        latex -recorder foo.tex
which outputs a file foo.fls listing all the files included. Then call
dlocate for all those files. That should give you a good idea of what is
used.

With fonts it should be texlive-fonts-recommended, and in case you need
something special texlive-fonts-extra. But maybe the packages uses
cm-super and/or lmodern, don't know.
