Followup-For: Bug #418706

This seems very similar to this: 
http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689600

which was related to non-i386 platforms (including sparc64, I suspect). 
The fix noted is listed at the bottom of the Ghostscript bug 
report above, as revision 8440.
