Package: spamassassin
Version: 3.2.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

spamassassin should come with the following default config:

  bayes_auto_expire 0

Also, the spamassassin cronjob should run:

  sudo -H -u Debian-exim sa-learn --force-expire

After about 1 month on my small system, only delivering my personal
emails, spamd was timing out every time trying to expire the database.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response to this bug report. SpamAssassin does not have a timeout by default, so your problem is mostly caused by your mailstream integration.

Your proposed fix is inherently specific to a system using some sort of system-wide integration with exim, and as a result is unsuitable for inclusion in the spamassassin package.

Duncan
