Package: xulrunner-1.9
Version: 1.9~rc2-2
Severity: grave

Hi Mike,
I'm packaging a software (galaxium, ITP #476959), which would need
libgecko2.0-cil at build time.
This is the situation in a sid chroot (cowdancer):

# apt-get install libgecko2.0-cil
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libgecko2.0-cil: Depends: libxul0d (>= 1.8.1.4) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
# apt-cache policy libgecko2.0-cil
libgecko2.0-cil:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.13-1
  Version table:
     0.13-1 0
        500 http://debian.fastweb.it sid/main Packages
# apt-cache policy libxul0d
libxul0d:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: (none)
  Version table:

Looking at the removal log [1], xulrunner 1.8.1.14-3 has been removed from sid
because "NBS" (Not Built from Source).

[1] http://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt, look for "Mon, 09 Jun 2008
16:23:22 +0000"

Would you please provide a drop-in replacement for libxul0d? I know this might
be an upstream question -- but it could also be Debian-specific (if you, for
example, didn't think of a binary package for this library).

If you feel this is more an upstream question -- I'll happily re-post it
anywhere on the net. I can currently build my package -- but just because it
can also use webkit as web engine (and, oh, well, I also have testing repos,
so that at build time it gets the package from there -- but it would be a FTBFS
on buildds...)

I've set the severity to "grave", because the removal of libxul0d affects many
packages:

$ apt-cache rdepends libxul0d | wc -l
43
$

among which we have seahorse, epiphany-gecko, liferea and some others. Also,
some libraries depend on it:

$ apt-cache rdepends libxul0d | grep lib | wc -l
14
$

Thus making those libraries' rdepends uninstallable as well. This is a major
bug IMHO, but feel free to downgrade its severity if you feel.

Thanks,
David

libgecko2.0-cil needs update. See bug #480816.
