Thanks for your report.
I know close to nothing about the hppa architecture, but as the error 
message tells, the hppa kernel lacks CONFIG_I2C_ALGOBIT.
It even looks like all CONFIG_I2C is disabled on hppa and, with my 
limited knowledge, I can see no reason why it should be.

I can try to gather more information, but if you, as a member of the 
kernel team, know why CONFIG_I2C is disabled on hppa (or know who to 
ask), please tell me.

PS: I don't think anyone ever tried to use an EM8300-based card on a 
hppa host. Although I've done some important efforts to make the driver 
portable (it was tested to work on i386, alpha, powerpc, sparc64 and 
amd64), I'm not sure at all it would work on hppa.
