Attaching to the stuck process via strace does not yield any
information. ltrace, however, outputs the following two lines in
seemingly endless repetition:
iconv(-1, 0xbffff5fc, 0xbffff600, 0xbffff604, 0xbffff608) = -1
__errno_location() = 0x40403c40
