Package: adjtimex
Version: 1.26-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 10.7.3

Hi

The upgrade of adjtimex overwrites the TICK and FREQ values in the config
file /etc/default/adjtimex without a question or warning.

After seeing the 2 debconf values below I checked the package configuration
with dpkg-reconfigure. There is a question about running an automatic
configuration with adjtimexconfig at installation time ('Should adjtimexconfig
be run at installation time?'). From that description I would expect the
automatic configuration to run once when I install the package the first time,
but not a (re-)configuration on every upgrade of the package, especially not
if you have changed the values manually.

I have disabled this setting now and hopefully the automatic reconfiguration
does not happen again. But still this behaviour should be fixed in the package.

Regards

Uwe
