Package: phonon-backend-gstreamer Version: 4.3.1-1 Severity: grave Phonon-backend-gstreamer does not install gstreamer0.10-alsa by default resulting in a system that plays KDE4 system sounds but no 3rd party application sounds ( E.G. MPlayer, Xine, Amarok ETC ) on systems that have upgraded from KDE 3.5.x and have only used xine and ARTS for sound. Workaround: manually install gstreamer0.10-alsa from the Debian repositories OR manually install phonon-backend-xine from Debian repositories and select the xine backend from K>System settings>Multimedia and restart KDE.
Expected behavior: phonon-backend-gstreamer should install gstreamer0.10-alsa by default so sound works for the end user.
