Package: subversion
Version: 1.5.6dfsg-1
Severity: serious

The source package Build-Depends on libdb4.6-dev and also on libaprutil1-dev,
which depends on libdb4.7-dev. You probably need to update your Build-Depends
to libdb4.7-dev.

...Which reminds me, this bug should have been closed with the first
'experimental' upload of 1.6. I'll retro-edit the changelog.

I try to match the dependency forced on me by libaprutil1-dev. It is
not an ideal situation, to be sure. In the past, I tried to use
libdb-dev but believe it or not, this actually didn't work, as
libaprutil1-dev specified libdb4.6-dev. Something conflicted.

And what's really crazy is that Subversion doesn't even _use_
apr-util's db wrapper.

Now that apr-util 1.3 has split its db backend code into plugin
libraries, we can hope that something can be done about the -dev
package can likewise be split, so eventually, Subversion won't be at
the mercy of the apr-util libdb dependency at all. It's hard to know
how best to achieve this in apr-util, though. (Well, first I'd have to
find more time to be active in Debian apache maintenance.)
