given the fact that I can't reproduce the problem and it doesn't seem to be a common problem (no other users confirming the issue), I'm downgrading the severity to important. Actually it seems more like a bug to me that is triggered by network-manager, not in network-manager itself. Steve, if you found out more in between w.r.t gdm etc, please let us know.
