Yes. Not every signature in the database is useable by the version of
the scanning engine, but the process of scanning continues to work.

It is a problem of how we manage certain classes of software within a
stable release. I can do nothing about it, because the release policy
is to never upgrade the vrsion of software in stable.

Most definitely. htpp://volatile.debian.net/ .
So, since we already have bug #310549, which is about the exact same
issue, although with an earlier upgrade warning, I am going to close=20
this duplicate report.
