Hi,
I can't reproduce this. Every single one of my packages is built
on a minimal virtual machine created using debconf, and again on my
desktop. And this is an amd64 box. I suspect something is wrong in the
local setup, and thus I am lowering the severity.
Frankly, the error seems to be from a dpkg-dev bug that was
fixed a few weeks ago.
