First of all, I've just canceled the NMU, as you request.
Regarding the severity, it has been tagged as such by Luca Falavigna
(not by the original submitter). Luca is a DD which is working hard in
the Debian Python theme. I presume the severity is justified by the
attempt to switch to python 2.6 as the default Python version in the
next future, but I confess I haven't checked that assumption of mine,
I've simply trusted Luca's judgment on this.
I'm now copying Luca for more details on its severity assignment (sorry
for not having done that before, of course).
