Maybe the package could contain a little bit of documentation explaining
this. The package description merely says that some CRLs would be
fetched periodically. To me it indeed looked like the package would come
with sane defaults. Indeed having a package which - after installation -
would just keep ssl revocations recent for web browsers would be a great
addition. Such a package should imho be recommended by ca-certificates.
As far as I understand it now fetch-crl aims to be something slightly
different.

Uhm, so if the package does not work without prior configuration, the
cron job should be disabled by default. Since it does nothing useful
prior to being configured, it should simply not be run.
