i'm able to reproduce debian bug #591118 (monkeysphere FTBFS in test suite) by using a reasonably fast machine (i used a quadcore amd64 machine with 4000 bogomips per core according to /proc/cpuinfo), which is not under heavy load. I did:
git clone git://git.monkeysphere.info/monkeysphere
cd monkeysphere/tests
while ./keytrans; do true; done
(this would also work from the debian monkeysphere source package, i
suspect, it does not need the upstream sources. if anyone cares,
upstream was at commit dbaab8 when i ran this test)
