and isn't it the same as bug #569580 ?
That bug seems (from quickly skimming it) to not be tied to the use of GNOME applications, and possibly also occur in a different CUPS helper than the one provided with ghostscript.
I suggest you try ask that question in that bugreport, to help the CUPS maintainers verify if really the bugs are the same.
