Package: libclanlib2
Version: 0.6.5-1-2.1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Hi Filip!

(CC'ing Goswin since he did the NMU)

Since the last libclanlib upload programs using clanlib do not start
any more:

$ clanbomber
clanbomber: relocation error: /usr/lib/libclanDisplay.so.2: undefined symbo=
l: XOpenDisplay

Also it is not possible to rebuild clanbomber from source:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/debian/clanbomber-1.05$ debuild
dpkg-buildpackage: source package is clanbomber
dpkg-buildpackage: source version is 1.05-2
dpkg-buildpackage: source maintainer is Martin Pitt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture is i386
[...]
checking for main in -lclanCore... yes
checking for main in -lclanApp... yes
checking for main in -lclanDisplay... no
ClanBomber requires ClanLib to run.

Both worked up to version 0.6.5-1-2. Since the library soname did not
change, this is a break of promised binary compatibility, and since
the upstream version did not change, compatibility breaks should not
happen at all.

Can you please repair/revert the mess this NMU created?

In addition, the library filenames are very odd. There should not be
libclan*.so.0.6.3 files, but _only_ libclan*.so.SONAME. 0.6.3 is the
version of the source package, which is irrelevant for naming
libraries. However, this was not introduced by the last NMU but already
existed before. It would be nice if you could fix that as well.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Martin
