Did some digging... On a default squeeze ephy will never build under pbuilder as pbuilder in squeeze does not support architecture wildcards. This bug needs reassigning to pbuilder. This bug was found and fixed under Ubuntu natty. Below is a link to the bug report and a direct link to the debdiff.
