Justification: causes serious data loss
All desktop links are gone, including many menu choices in "System." Some have
been found by explicitly invoking nautilus, but am unable to determine if all
desktop items are preserved in another location. Unable to determine if hal is
mounting/unmounting removable media correctly.

STOP ABUSING BUG SEVERITIES. YOUR DATA IS NOT GONE. UPGRADING GNOME
PACKAGES WILL NOT WIPE OUT YOUR PERSONAL DATA.
Thanks.
The data is still on your ~/Desktop directory, there is even a shortcut
to it in the nautilus side bar and in the shortcuts menu.
