You can test it with: $ dbus-send --system --dest=org.wicd.daemon --print-reply /org/wicd/daemon org.wicd.daemon.Hello (all on one line). If it works, then proceed to check if it has methods from 1.7.1: $ dbus-send --system --dest=org.wicd.daemon --print-reply /org/wicd/daemon org.wicd.daemon.GetShowNeverConnect d) does it happen if you "service dbus reload" or "service dbus restart"?
