I asked the Ntop mailing list if using the --wihtout-ssl would only turn off the https option for accessing the Ntop web interface [1]. I quote here the answer given by Burton Strauss III, which is involved in the development of ntop: "That was all it was intended to do - remove the SSL web pages to reduce executable size for small machines."
