This is from AM_GNU_GETTEXT. #709740 is implicated, although in my case I get the macro definition indirectly via the copy in gnulib. Dear gnulib maintainer: could we please have a new snapshot in unstable, since this was fixed upstream on 2012-12-23? As well as #687986, we now have this problem that will affect a number of upstream packages built on Debian systems, and backporting fixes is only going to get increasingly cumbersome.
