Oh okay. That wasn’t clear to me immediately, sorry for that,
and as snappy was only recently recommended to me in IRC and
I wanted to initially test it, I am not familiar with it.
(My intent is to replace gzip/xz in the chain

by HDD I/O speed if at all possible, followed by network…

Don’t worry, take your time. If this is simply not a feature
of the package in Debian, it isn’t. (Looks like I’ll need to
backport that locally, afterwards… good to know.)
python-snappy is the only way I found to use snappy as gzip
replacement for stream compression so far; if you know any
others… feel free to mention.
