Tried openrc today but the try was fatally break the whole system
First I'll describe my system I used to try:
- - Boot via grub2
- - / on small device
- - non-initrd kernel
- - /usr and /var on lvm
- - All other filesystems like /home on luks mounted in boot process
First I got the following messages (duplicated messages removed, well, I
had to do them by hand as, as you can mention, I am not able to copy the
text from boot screen without any running system):
/lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: 77: /lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: lsb.pl: not found
/lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: 23: /etc/init.d/bootlogs: cannot create
/var/log/dmesg: Directory nonexistent
chgrp: cannot access '/var/log/dmesg': No such file or directory
/lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: 91: /lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: shell_var: not found
/lib/rc/sh/gendepends.sh: 23: /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh: cannot create
/var/run/utmp: Directory nonexistent
fsck died with exit status 8
failed (code 8).
After that the only option was to login via root PW. I had to start
udev, lvm, resolvconf, ... by hand in the right order to get the system
far enough up to install sysv-rc back. After that the system was fine
again.
