This is hardly a grave bug, since the package works and even if one site
stopped working, the package has support for multiple sites. See below for

This works perfectly fine here with youtube-dl from unstable.  In fact, I
use it myself on a daily basis, as I both need it and write other software
that depends on it (e.g., edx-dl).

Since your message didn't specify the version that you have installed, I
can't know more.  Thus, I'm tagging this bug both as moreinfo and as
unreproducible.

My crystal ball stopped working many, many years ago. Please write some
text, so that I can understand what is your problem.

Which error? youtube-dl generates lots of output, especially when it wasn't
able to download of something.

It would be super helpful to know which version is affected, instead of
saying "current". Do you mean the version in stable? oldstable? testing?
unstable?
