Package: policykit-1 Version: 0.105-15~deb8u1 Severity: critical Hi,
(ThinkPad laptop, MATE desktop, sysv init)
After upgrading to policykit-1 from jessie-proposed-updates, my laptop
suffered from several bugs in various parts of my desktop (hence the
severity, feel free to downgrade if you think it's not justified):
- laptop couldn't be shutdown from desktop (but this worked from console
with the shutdown command); what happened was very weird, I could
briefly see a popup probably asking me to swipe my finger (there was no
password field), but it was shivering (like when a password or finger
swipe is rejected) several times and then the desktop got back to lightdm
- laptop couldn't be suspended from desktop; closing the lid or
explicitly pressing the Fn-F4 key combo (the little moon) did activate
the lock screen, but nothing else happened; no error in syslog, only
some messages related to activating Fprint service; I didn't try to
suspend from console (the command changed several times across the
years, and I don't know what currently works on jessie without systemd),
but I guess it should have worked, like shutdown
- fingerprint reader didn't work from MATE lock screen (but did work
from lightdm); I wasn't even prompted to swipe my finger, but directly
to enter my password
All these symptoms ceased when I downgraded policykit-1 *and*
libpolikit-{agent,backend,gobject}-1-0 to the previous version from
stable (0.105-8).
Note that on this machine I have all proposed-updates and (I know it's
not recommended, but it's for testing purposes) all backports; but it's
really a jessie system, no testing/sid packages mixed in (I saw your
comment in #760344).
Regards,
