Indeed no good reason. This change was done when exchanging with
Hideki Yamane who was preparing a talk about switching to xz, for
DebConf 12. As much as I remember, I proposed Yamane-san to swith "my"
geneweb package to xz and even enforce the highest compression level,
as an illustration of "yes we can".

Later on, several discussions showed that this compression level puts
too much load on autobuilders and then the default was set....to use
xz's own default.

But, geneweb was never changed later on, which explains this. So, in
short, there was no special reason except experimentation.

I'm building the package modified by Guillaume and will upload
