You are probably experiencing the libmhash bug described here:
http://bugs.debian.org/350088
To verify this, start gringotts with gdb (ie. 'gdb gringotts') and look
at the backtrace with the 'bt' command after it crashed. The top
backtrace frame should be in libmhash.so.2, as seen in the #350088 bug
report.
If not, please mail your backtrace to me so I can see where exactly the
segfault happens.

I will keep this bug open with a blocking reference so that people are
reminded of the broken libmhash2 package on big-endian machines.
To prevent this bug until it is fixed, downgrade to the previous
libmhash2 version.
