If this bug endangers the MATE desktop to have an important component removed from testing, I'll consider dropping the severity of this issue back to important (while keeping it in mind as an RC bug).
Please note that a fix is not yet being worked on on the MATE upstream side and I expect a fix for this with MATE 1.20 at the earliest.
