Your package build-depends on libgconf2-dev, but gconf will be removed from Debian soon. gconf's last release was about 5 years ago. It has been replaced by gsettings (provided in Debian by source glib2.0 ) I think the configure.ac script is broken. Since it provides gsettings schemas for the gtk3 build and doesn't install the gconf schemas, it should be able to build without gconf present.
